Keyshape 1.14 Can Export QuickTime Video

This version can export QuickTime (mov) video files. The video is encoded with the ProRes 4444 video codec with up to 12-bit colors and 16-bit alpha transparency. Most graphics is rendered and exported at that accuracy, except filter effects, which use 8-bit accuracy. The exported video color space can be sRGB (requires macOS 15+) or Rec.709. Keyshape uses the sRGB color space internally to render all graphics, so exporting with the sRGB color space ensures the best color accuracy because no color conversions are needed. Exporting with the Rec.709 color space requires a conversion to gamma 1.961. That makes it compatible with QuickTime Player, Apple Final Cut Pro and Apple Motion. For other video players and editors, the sRGB color space may be more suitable.

Text rendering has been improved by adding proper font fallback. It means that if the selected font doesn’t have the required glyph to draw a letter, then a list of system fallback fonts is searched for the glyph instead of showing a missing glyph ▯ rectangle. In addition to that, the Apple Color Emoji font is now rendered correctly, which is great news for those who like emojis.

The “Break Apart” menu command has been changed to divide text objects into groups of individual letters. It makes animating letters in words a bit easier.

The canvas has been changed to show frames of animated PNGs. This feature makes it possible to use PNG animations as visual references while drawing and animating vector animations. Note that web browsers don’t always keep PNG animations synchronized with SVG animations, so exporting SVG animations mixed with PNG animations may not be a good idea.

When Keyshape files or linked images are moved to a new location in the file system, image links often break because the images are no longer found in their original location. The new “Relink Selected” and “Relink All Missing Images” actions in the image panel simplify the process of fixing missing images.

Importing Lottie and AVD files has been updated to show a warning if the files contain features not supported by Keyshape. Update the Lottie and AVD plugins to see the warnings.
